"Living for God can be challenging. You can't do it
in your own
strength. Try to and you'll burn out. This is why God gives us
the Holy Spirit ... to infuse us with power, to do what we
cannot do ourselves."
~ Dr. David Jeremiah

"Gratitude
unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into
enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order,
confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a
home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
~ Melody Beattie

Our day always begins with:
Good Morning, Lord!
"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;
for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein
I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee."
~ Psalm 143:8 (KJV)
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armour of light."
~ Romans 13:12 (KJV)
Followed by
Gratitude and Praise
"Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 (KJV)

Prayers, of course, are essential. Many
are spontaneous.
I know that I am not alone in loving to talk with the Lord
about any and every thing... whatever is on my heart. I
firmly believe that thanksgiving and praise
are crucial
to a meaningful prayer life, no matter what the situation.
Having said that, I must also say that some of my very
favorite prayers have become engraved on my heart over
the years, to the degree that my prayer life would be quite
diminished without them. In addition to the ones you'll find
here, I share with you the following:
Morning Prayer

Illuminata: Thoughts, Prayers, Rites of Passage
© 1994 by Marianne Williamson
(Random House)
Dear God,
I give this day to You.
May my mind stay centered on the things of spirit.
May I not be tempted to stray from love.
As I begin this day, I open to receive You.
Please enter where You already abide.
May my mind and heart be pure and true, and
may I not deviate from the things of goodness.
May I see the love and innocence in all
mankind, behind the masks we all wear and
the illusions of this worldly plane.
I surrender to You my doings this day.
I ask only that they serve You and
the healing of the world.
May I bring Your love and goodness with me,
to give unto others wherever I go.
Make me the person You would have me be.
Direct my footsteps, and show me what
You would have me do.
Make the world a safer, more beautiful place.
Bless all Your creatures.
Heal us all, and use me, dear Lord, that I
may know the joy of being used by You.
Amen.

Our quiet time with the Lord Jesus Christ
always
includes meditating on some of our favorite scriptures,
both Old and
New Testament. And
here's why:
"My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes;
keep them in the midst of thine heart.
For they are life unto those that find them,
and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life."
~ Proverbs 4:20-23 (KJV)
"For the word of God is quick, and
powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart."
~ Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

We have found over time that the very backbone of our Daily Walk
with Christ is the time we spend in CONFESSING
the Word of God.
If this practice is new to you (as it was to me until recently), please
do not dismiss it due to unfamiliarity or apprehension. As stated in
Scripture Confessions for Victorious Living

on a daily basis..."

Psalm 51
A Prayer for Cleansing
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according
to thy loving-kindness: according unto
the
multitude of thy tender mercies blot
out
my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions:
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,
and done this evil in thy sight:
that
thou mightest be justified when thou
speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity;
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward
parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt
make
me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness;
that the bones which thou hast broken
may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins,
and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence;
and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;
and uphold me with thy free Spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways;
and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
thou God of my salvation: and my tongue
hall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my
mouth shall show forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice;
else would I give it: thou delightest
not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart, O God,
thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion:
build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices
of
righteousness, with burnt offering and whole
burnt
offering: then shall they offer bullocks
upon thine altar.

And then, of course, there are my precious
books!
Here is an example of how things go. A day in the life...

for His Highest" online!
Out of the Wreck I Rise
(My Utmost for His Highest May 19)
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?"
~ Romans 8:35
"God does not keep a man immune from
trouble; He says - 'I will
be with him in trouble.' It does not matter what actual troubles in
the most extreme form get hold of a man's life, not one of them
can separate him from his relationship to God. We are 'more than
conquerors in all these things.' Paul is not talking of imaginary things,
but of things that are desperately actual; and he says we are super-
victors in the midst of them, not by our ingenuity, or by our courage,
or by anything other than the fact that not one of them affects our
relationship to God in Jesus Christ. Rightly or wrongly, we are where
we are, exactly in the condition we are in. I am sorry for the Christian
who has not something in his circumstances he wishes was not there.
'Shall tribulation...?' Tribulation is never a noble thing; but let
tribulation be what it may - exhausting, galling, fatiguing, it is
not able to separate us from the love of God. Never let cares
or tribulations separate you from the fact that God loves you.
'Shall anguish...?' - can God's love hold when everything says
that His love is a lie, and that there is no such thing as justice?
'Shall famine...?' - can we not only believe in the love of God
but be more than conquerors, even while we are being starved?
Either Jesus Christ is a deceiver and Paul is deluded, or some
extraordinary thing happens to a man who holds on to the love
of God when the odds are all against God's character. Logic is
silenced in the face of every one of these things. Only one thing
can account for it - the love of God in Christ Jesus. 'Out of the
wreck I rise' every time."

God Calling
Edited by A. J. Russell/© Barbour Books
Gratitude
"Give Me the gift of a brave and thankful heart.
Man proves his greatness
by his power to see causes for thankfulness in his life.
When life seems hard, and troubles crowd, then very definitely look for
causes for thankfulness.
The sacrifice, the offering of thanksgiving, is indeed a sweet incense
going up to Me through the busy day.
Seek diligently for the something to be glad and thankful about in
every happening, and soon no search will be required.
The causes for joy and gratitude will spring to greet your loving hearts."

"God is Love... no judging.
God is Love... no resentment.
God is Love... all patience.
God is Love... all power.
God is Love... all supply.
All you need to have is love to God and man. Love to God ensures
obedience to every wish, every command. Love is the fulfilling of
all law. Pray for much Love."

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
~ Psalm 27:1
"Light rises in the dark
places when they are opened to My presence.
Light dispels the negative and gloomy thoughts and feelings, and scatters
the shadows of night. I am the Daystar, the Light-giver who brings hope
and gladness to your soul. Welcome Me, My child, with a wide open
door - for I come bearing precious gifts. You are not called to dwell in sadness
or to pine for those things that cannot be. Let their absences
free you to see the wonders I have to unfold before you, and be fully
present to them. Trust Me to guide your way, to guard what you have entrusted to
Me, to keep you and your loved ones safe from harm -
and let My joy be your strength,"

He Will Rescue You
"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler,
and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from mine enemies."
~
Psalm 18:2-3 (KJV)
My Prayer for Today
"Lord, it is true that You have worked so many miracles
in my life.
If I were to try to recount all the times You have saved me, delivered
me, rescued me, gotten me out of trouble, put me on a right path, and
blessed me when I didn't deserve it, I wouldn't have enough time to
recite them all! So how could I ever question that You would be with
me right now in my present challenge? Of course You are with me
and will help me. Forgive me for being so hardhearted as to forget
what You have already done for me. And I thank You right now that
You are going to help me this time too! I pray this in Jesus' name!"
My Confession for Today
"I confess that I am not forgetful of the many ways God
has worked
in my life. I am mindful of His mercy and grace, and I praise Him
for it every day. I am a living testimony of His power. He is My
Redeemer, my Healer, my Deliverer, and my Provider. He is the
One who rescues me from harm and who meets my every need. I
am fully supplied in every area of my life because of the promises
God has made to me in His Word.
I declare this by faith in
Jesus' name!"

Open to All People
"Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his
benefits --
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases ...."
~
Psalm 103:2-3
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
"Our God is an awesome God. He not only defines
and defeats sin;
he delivers us from the consequences of sin by forgiving our sins
and purifying us. True healing means more than just curing a sick
body -- and we praise God for the times he has done that in our
lives. No, true healing means to forgive and deliver us from what
breaks our spirits and makes our souls and bodies unhealthy. Only
God offers this "benefit" as part of his retirement package!"
My Prayer...
"How can I sufficiently praise You, Abba
Father, for Your mercy
and grace that has forgiven, pardoned, and cleansed me of my sin.
Help me never to forget the joy of being forgiven and included in
Your family. Thank You for Your salvation. In Jesus' name I
praise You. Amen."
~ Phil Ware,
Heartlight

Luther's Evening Prayer
"My Heavenly Father, I thank You, through Jesus Christ,
Your beloved Son, that You have protected me, by Your grace.
Forgive, I pray, all my sins and the evil I have done. Protect
me, by Your grace, tonight. I put myself in your care, body
and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy angels be with me,
so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen."

Wisdom
"How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
And the man who gains understanding.
For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
She is more precious than jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her."
~
Proverbs

Seek Beauty
"Draw beauty from every flower and Joy from the
song of the birds and the colour of the flowers.
Drink in the Beauty of air and colour. I am with you.
When I wanted to express a beautiful thought, I made
a lovely flower. I have told you. Reflect.
When I want to express to man what I am - what My
Father is - I strive to make a very beautiful character.
Think of yourselves as My expression of attributes, as
a
a lovely flower is My expression of thought, and you
will
strive in all, in Spiritual beauty, in Thought-power,
in
Health, in clothing, to be as fit an expression for Me
as you can.
Absorb Beauty. As soon as the beauty of a flower or a
tree is impressed upon your soul it leaves an image there
which reflects through your actions. Remember that no
thought of sin and suffering, of the approaching scorn
and Crucifixion, ever prevented My seeing the beauty
of the flowers.
Look for beauty and joy in the world around. Look at a
flower until its beauty becomes part of your very soul.
It will be given back to the world again by you in the
form of a smile or a loving word or a kind thought
or prayer.
Listen to a bird. Take the song as a message from My
Father. Let it sink into your soul. That too will be
given back to the world in ways I have said. Laugh
more, laugh often. Love more. I am with you. I am
your Lord."

The Faith Food Section of LBC is not written by an ordained minister,
nor is it written by a man or woman of the cloth yet to be ordained. It is
quite simply a statement of non-denominational Christian faith, written
by one who loves and serves the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our purpose here - as in every other section of LBC - is simply to serve
you. Long before the thought of adding "Faith Food" occurred to us, we
proclaimed a very simple mission statement:
Our goal is to provide a beautiful, relaxing
atmosphere,
designed to inspire, entertain and inform you.
Our goal has not changed; rather it has expanded to
embrace a broader
spiritual perspective. We imagine that those of you who have really been
paying close attention over the years already know
where our priorities
lie. It is our hope that the sharing of the Christian principles most highly
esteemed in this place will touch your heart and, ultimately, bless you.
What we offer you in Faith Food - especially in Daily Faith Walk - is very
personal and, unfortunately, controversial. We are not on a crusade here.
We are motivated by Love in Christ to share with you the things that we
believe make life worth living - the things that bring peace of mind, hope,
and joy in these very dark and threatening times. You are free to do with
this information as you will - take it, or leave it. We freely admit that we
hope you will take it, and that it will enrich and bless your life.
